Frequently asked questions

All plans

This page collects the questions owners ask most often, with short direct answers and links to the fuller explanations. The themes are consistent: how long setup takes and whether it disrupts the phone line you already have, what the AI can and cannot do on a call, what it costs when the phone is busy, and whether calling customers this way is allowed. If your question is about a specific screen, the dashboard reference has a page per surface with its own questions at the bottom. If something is behaving unexpectedly rather than being unclear, the troubleshooting page is the faster route, because it is ordered by how often each cause actually turns out to be the problem.

Setup and your phone line

Setup takes about five minutes because the AI builds itself from your Google business profile. You keep the number your customers already know, either by forwarding it to the AI or by transferring it over. Forwarding is instant and reversible with a code on your own phone, which is why most owners start there.

What the AI does

It answers calls and texts around the clock, books appointments into your live calendar with two way sync, takes pickup orders from your real menu, answers questions from the knowledge you approved, and transfers to a person whenever a caller asks. It never takes card details, sending a secure payment link instead, and it never claims to be human.

Cost

A flat monthly plan plus $0.49 per minute of talk time, with no per call fees, no contract, and no after hours premium. Both plans include a five day free trial. Outbound campaigns run on prepaid credit with a cap you set, so outbound spend cannot exceed what you intended.

Questions

How long does setup take?
About five minutes for the account and assistant, because your details come from your Google profile rather than a long form. Forwarding your existing line takes under a minute. Most owners spend another ten or fifteen minutes reviewing knowledge, which is the part that most improves call quality.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep the number your customers know. Forward it to your AI number, either for all calls or only the ones you miss, or transfer the number over permanently once you are confident. Forwarding is reversible at any time with a code on your own phone.
Can callers always reach a human?
Yes. Asking for a person transfers the call to the number you set, and the AI passes along what was already discussed so the caller does not repeat themselves. Outside hours it takes a detailed message and texts you a summary instead.
Does the AI take payments?
Never on a call or by text. If something needs paying, it sends a secure link to your own payment page. That keeps card details out of your call transcripts and out of your compliance scope entirely.
Is it legal to call my own customers with AI?
Contacting people you already do business with sits on a different footing from cold calling, and that is what OrderToAI is built for. The platform enforces AI disclosure, immediate opt-outs, customer local calling hours, and a contactable window. This is an explanation rather than legal advice, so confirm your own position with your counsel.
What happens when my free trial ends?
Your plan continues and the first monthly charge is taken, so the AI keeps answering without a gap. Cancelling during the five days is one click and costs nothing.
